Environment Day
An Integral part of Waldorf Education is teaching our children about the environment surrounding us. As a result, we have chosen a fundraiser which benefits both our school and our surrounding environment.
In 2003 our school adopted a plot at The Sunbird Environmental Centre in the Silvermine Nature Reserve. We will be clearing the non-indigenous plants which are preventing our indigenous plants from flourishing.

Why are we fundraising?
We have built 3 new class rooms with funds generated from fundraising events last year and generous donations from our parents. Our priorities this year are installing electricity and improving the toilet facilities in our kindergarten. And, of course, rebuilding the damage caused by the fire.
What is our fundraiser?
An Integral part of Waldorf Education is teaching our children about the environment surrounding us. As a result, we have chosen a fundraiser which benefits both our school and our surrounding environment. In 2003 our school 'adopted' a plot at The Sunbird Environmental Centre in the Silvermine Nature Reserve. We will be clearing the non-indigenous plants which are preventing our indigenous plants from flourishing.
Why is it important?
There has been a general awareness in the valley regarding alien vegetation. Past programs have involved these plants being chopped, dried and burnt. However, the burning process can cause more seeds of these invasive plants to germinate. Therefore, the most suitable approach involves focusing rather on prevention. It is now regarded that the most suitable method to employ is to physically remove the plants from the ground. This provides a permanent achievable solution to the problem.
Please support our efforts to make a positive impact on our Environment
and raise funds for our School.
