Imhoff Waldorf sent 4 soccer teams to the Kommetjie Winter Sports Day, on Saturday, 26 May.
The under 9 team played their first match as a team – there was great excitement and nervous energy from both players and parents. Khanya Jaca, the player of the match, was the only goal scorer which gave Imhoff Waldorf, under 9’s, their first win of the season.
The girls under 11 team played a six a side match against Kommetjie. Imhoff Waldorf girls team is a mix of Class 3, 4, 5 and 6 players while the Kommetjie team are a more settled grade 4 and 5 team. The Imhoff girls were brave and determined, and although they lost, the experience of playing on a big field, in a big occasion, was an awesome learning curve.
The under 11 team that played on Saturday was a mixed-age group as well as a mixed-school group consisting of players from Imhoff Waldorf and Capella House. The team has been getting extra input from The Ubuntu Football Academy and with guidance from coach Conal the team was passing, attacking and defending with added confidence. Imhoff Waldorf’s Owen Ngirazi was player of the match. Well played Owen!
The under 13’s played Kommetjie – a real derby match. The game was full of goals with teams matching each other goal for goal until Kommetjie netted that extra one. Imhoff received the player of the match award – well done Edan Bloom!
