Jamie Lee Krige receives her results with delight

We always like to share good news with our whole family! As you know, at the end of last year, our pioneering class and first group of matrics (ever!) sat the National Senior Certificate exams (more commonly known as “Matric”).

We are delighted with our results: of the 12 students who sat the exams, 10 achieved a Bachelor’s Pass (what used to be known as a “matric exemption”) which means they can apply to any university in South Africa! One student was overjoyed to achieve a Diploma Pass (which means he can apply to any college) and one student will be writing two supplementary exams shortly.

There was an excellent spread of high marks across the subjects too: 12 As, 18 Bs and 17 Cs. (Parents have asked about “A aggregates” but aggregates are no longer included in the results.)

On this Saturday past, I had the very great honour of attending the Matric Awards Ceremony hosted by the Metro South Education District with Indiana Wells, and her mother. Indi was presented with the “Top Learner per School Award” and special mention was made of her wonderful artwork which the Master of Ceremonies remembered seeing at an exhibition at the Baxter Theatre.

And in related news, our very own Phumeza Soci is being fêted by the Education Department for her students’ consistently high History marks. Well done, Phumeza!

We know that many of you have paid close attention to the progress of our lovely matrics and were wishing them well for their exams and we are so pleased to be able to share our great results and pride in our class of 2016!

We are confident that our next class of matrics will be equally successful when they write in 2018!

Warm regards
Irene Stewart
