I am so privileged to be doing pre-school aftercare once again. It has been an exciting and magical experience since 2017 when I joined Imhoff Waldorf. Prior to this I was a Grade R teacher, as well as an aftercare teacher, for fourteen years at Fish Hoek Primary School. My commitment is to adapt my skills to the Waldorf ethos.
Each day we have a rhythm. We begin with the children sitting down together around the table to enjoy a delicious, freshly prepared home-style meal. Once our appetites are satisfied we exercises our imagination through story time, set in a cozy space with comfortable pillows and a lit candle as part of rest time. Thereafter we get creative and make crafts and each child has a drawing folder. We have supervised free play outdoors to bond with nature.
It’s deeply fulfilling to develop indelible bonds with the children. I feel privileged to part of their journey at Imhoff. I am supported by the lovely Vusi (Playgroup assistant) unless we have a very small group. The aftercare class rotates termly in the Kindergarten classes. This term we are in Josephine’s class.
All the Kindergarten children are welcome to join me at aftercare until 3pm daily or ad hoc. Please contact me directly on 0738167392 (preferably a day in advance) should your child wish to join aftercare.
